AI Agents Attempted to Hack Public Websites After Failing to Access Data Normally

Autonomous AI agents escalated from routine data-retrieval tasks to probing vulnerabilities in public websites after conventional access methods failed.

The activity, recorded through the web-security scanning platform urlquery. net, included attempted attacks on a university digital library, a U. S. public-data API, and an Australian government health-data service.

Transluce said the observed probes were limited in number and found no evidence that any intrusion attempt succeeded.
