Hackers Abuse Third-Party BigCommerce App to Steal Master of Malt Customer Data
Brief
Master of Malt has disclosed a customer-data breach after attackers compromised an application key associated with Ribon, a third-party BigCommerce application operated by Be A Part Of, a company describing itself as a Fastr brand.
In an email sent to affected customers at 17:45 BST on September 18, founder Justin said BigCommerce notified the retailer earlier that day that Ribon had been hacked.
The attackers allegedly obtained a BigCommerce application key held by Ribon and used it to access customer data stored within BigCommerce’s systems.

The exposed information includes customer names, email addresses, telephone numbers, and postal addresses.
Master of Malt said passwords, payment-card data, and other payment information were not exposed because those records were maintained in a separate system that was not compromised.
