Intel’s $20 Billion Stock Sale Fuels a Bigger Fight Over Chip Supply Chain Security
Brief
Intel has priced an upsized $20 billion public stock offering, a move that goes beyond a routine capital raise and lands squarely in the middle of an ongoing global debate over semiconductor supply chain security.
The chipmaker sold 210,526,315 shares at $95 apiece, upsizing the deal from an originally planned $15 billion after investor demand reportedly topped $100 billion, and granted underwriters a 30-day option for 31,578,947 additional shares.
The offering is set to close on August 12, 2026, with net proceeds of roughly $19.7 billion earmarked for general corporate purposes, including capital expenditures and working capital.
