New $7 SweepLED Gadget Helps Detect Hidden Cameras in Hotel Rooms

Researchers have unveiled SweepLED, a low-cost smartphone-based detection system that uses a compact LED attachment and artificial intelligence to identify the distinctive reflections produced by hidden camera lenses.
The system, developed by researchers from KAIST, Singapore Management University, and the National University of Singapore, is designed to make hidden-camera inspections faster and less dependent on specialist equipment.
$7 SweepLED Gadget Helps Detect Hidden Cameras
Its core hardware components cost less than $7, while a complete scan of a suspicious object takes under five seconds.
SweepLED is currently a research prototype, not a commercially available consumer gadget.
