OpenAI Commits $1 Billion to Give Critical Infrastructure Defenders Frontier AI Cyber Tools

The company said it will commit $1 billion in subsidized access to Daybreak cyber models and products, training, technical assistance, and partnerships.
The funding is intended for cyber defenders with limited budgets and staffing, including water utilities, electricity providers, state and local governments, community banks, nonprofits, and open-source maintainers.
OpenAI said the commitment will initially focus on the United States through a program called Daybreak for America.
